All Music Instructors are NOT the Same

Some "instructors" are better than others

The "bain" of a decent music instructor is the person who thinks that the only difference between teachers is how convenient they are and/or how much they cost. Such a person is called "a pricer" in the field and such a person is simply wrong.

Yeah, it's a way to make your search easy, but think of what might just happen. You find somebody down the block that is cheap. Chances are they aren't really all that good. Still, you take lessons from them, years and years possibly, and never learn much at all, other than how to play a few pieces for your "recital."

I run into such "students" many times, enough times for the experience to leave a bad taste in my mouth. People that are victimized by these teachers don't have basic skills. Essentially they don't really know how to play well. They might be able, in some cases, to replicate some of their tunes adequately. Still, basic playing, reading, practicing, is a thing unknown.

So who got the better value? My students (who I insist learn to play) or somebody who went to someone closer and/or cheaper and got - basically nothing they really could use?
