Chose the one that bugs you most (or two, or three!) and then scroll down for my solutions and my reasons for these solutions:
1. Money
2. Time
3. Effort
1. Problem: Money
Solution: Buy an inexpensive keyboard and learn to use ALL of it.
Reason for Solution: The thing that costs the most here is the instrument itself. AND the training to use it well enough. Still, unless you own an acoustic piano (that regularly requires tuning) once these items are out of the way, then this hobby is FREE! Zero $$$. What other hobby can make this claim? Plus, I prefer keyboards to solve this. Why? Simple? Never have to be tuned and very, very cheap for what you get, which is everything built in.
2. Problem: Time
Solution: Make acquiring an instrument and the skills to really use it a priority in your life.
Reason for Solution: Scam artists sometimes think that they should work on this barrier (which is closely related to the third - effort) and make promises they can't keep. Hell, even huge corporations can be guilty of this! They don't know you, how much time you'll put in, etc., so they can't say what might happen. That's why I try to make it as easy as possible but also say that, "it will take SOME time and effort" cause it WILL!
3. Problem: Effort
Solution: A great hobby does require some effort so don't think of it as hard but rather what it IS - interesting activity.
Reason for Solution: Kids love guitar cause they (largely guys) think it's a "chick magnet." Perhaps they are right. Now I'm a guy and I've always found that playing keyboards gets you "a better class of women." Why do I even bring this up? If your entire reason for learning to play is to attract girls, then you'll want something with the least effort that will still do the job. If, however, you reason for learning to play is to enjoy the sensations of making your own music yourself, then even the learning is NOT effort but an interesting new thing to learn. Plus, you can learn to play many different instruments for the work of learning to play one. Not bad!
I hope you now wish to get a keyboard and let me help you learn to make it talk. To do so, contact me via my website, or at danstarrorg@yahoo.com or 520-203-7490.
