A Story about Learning Piano...

This is MY story.

I am NOT normal and I know it.

Look on lists of the greatest sources of stress in life.

Most I've seen contain "speaking in public."

How much worse, then, is "playing in public?"since playing a musical instrument is NOT something we do every day (unlike speaking?)

Pretty stressful, right?

Now I LOVE playing in public, the more people the better.

Something of the "ham" in me, I guess - whatever.

However, these days I find that I have less and less interest in playing piano.

There are several reasons for this.

That's cause they would affect the desire to make music of those who aren't like me and want SMALLER groups to play to, perhaps only themselves or their families.

1. The piano is hard to learn (I'll have a number of stories about this in the coming weeks, including more of my own.)

2. Pianists too many times only know how to play one instrument - the piano.

3. The piano is a fine instrument but it doesn't provide a full sounding accompaniment, just piano.

4. An acoustic piano needs regular tunings and external metronomes, all of which cost more money!

5. The piano was very high tech - back in 1706! Today the electronic keyboard is higher, more modern tech for most folks.

6. Finally, you can't plug in headphones to an acoustic piano.

I hope I've convinced you to "take the plunge" with this post and purchase a keyboard and learn to use it to make your favorite music.
